Winnie, renowned for her work in family, newborn, and maternity photography in Annapolis, trusted me to capture her spirit—a profound honor as I was the first photographer she ever hired for her personal portraits. This intimate session celebrated Winnie’s journey, reflecting her deep appreciation for her body and the dedication she pours into nurturing it. Having a shoot like this with another artist who is deeply connected to her work and expression was so nourishing. There really is no limit to the creativity and healing that can happen during these transformational boudoir photoshoots. 

Exploring Artistic Collaboration in Studio 

Winnie’s session was filled with vibrant energy and graceful movement. Embracing her love for dance and the pulsating rhythm of life itself. This session held a profound significance for Winnie, offering her a sacred opportunity to break free from her usual role behind the lens and fully immerse herself in the experience. As we delved deeper into the session, each moment unveiled a new layer of her soulful journey, with her inner light shining brightly through every pose and expression. Winnie has a skin disease that she wanted to highlight, not shy away from, during our shoot. It’s a big part of her life and journey and it was important to showcase her skin just as it is.

Winnie welcomed me into her home for the gallery reveal, where she graciously prepared authentic Filipino cuisine for lunch. This experience was truly beautiful, and our connection has remained strong ever since.

“I’m protective of my space and those I let in, and allow to see me vulnerable. I’ve worked with Emily and her family through the other side of the lens as her own family photographer, and I had to jump on the opportunity to be on the other side for her to capture. I’ve watched her blossom, grow, and torpedo into the talent she is. Her work is enigmatic, powerful, sensual, and cinematic. Besides the quality of work, Emily herself has such a fresh and magnetic energy. I felt very much drawn to have her be the person who can photograph me in ways I don’t think I would ever be able to capture myself.

The whole experience with her was FUN. She made me feel comfortable and hyped up. It was great to bounce ideas off her, and the whole time was one giant dance party. The session with her was a great way to reset my mind as a fellow artist. I felt very energized walking out of her studio. She captured me in ways that I only felt my body move, but I’m glad to now have photographic evidence of it. A session with Emily is a celebration of all that is natural and pulchritude in womanhood. This artistic collaboration has yet to be one of the best gifts I’ve ever given myself.”
