Sarah, a talented anatomical artist and drawer of the human body, chose to celebrate her 30th birthday with a boudoir session for herself. Overcoming self-doubt and embracing the beauty of her own story, she found resonance in my vintage style and artistic expression. My photography celebrates the female body without over-sexualization or appeasement of the male gaze, and she approached our session with an inspiring blend of creativity and vulnerability. With an effortless collaboration, we captured the essence of her strength, resilience, and the unique charm of her journey.
Working with Sarah was not just about photography, it was a celebration of her individuality. A talented artist with a visually creative mind, Sarah gracefully shared her story. Living with a medical device attached to her stomach and overcoming a deep feeling that she is not photogenic. Rather than shying away from it, we embraced this aspect as a powerful part of her journey. The boudoir session unfolded effortlessly, with the incredible light of the studio intentionally chosen to enhance the mood. She brought all her own clothes and really took ownership of her style for the session. While our HMU artist, Miranda, contributed to her radiant transformation with carefully crafted hair and makeup.
Derived from this beautiful session, the captivating imagery, play of light, and a diverse range of images seamlessly encapsulated Sarah’s unique spirit. Central themes emerged as we explored her motivations for the session—her profound desire to feel beautiful, the journey of overcoming health challenges, and the transformative shift in embracing her body. We developed such a good bond that we are exploring a collaboration for the studio to include her amazing body line art and my photography. Hoping to add her work to my print shop in the coming months!
“Thank you soooo much for today it was SO much fun!! I see myself doing this every few years with you now! I loooooove the color grading you picked and just realized you brought that green through everything. It all plays so well with the green dress and compliments the purple set. My slytherin heart is veryyyyy happy!”
As Sarah approaches her 30s, she reflects on a life marked by Crohn’s Disease, surgeries, and academic pursuits. This session became a poignant capture of a moment where she feels rooted in her skin, owning her body and embracing a peaceful feeling amid life’s uncertainties. Sarah’s journey is a celebration of resilience, self-ownership, and the transformative power of capturing one’s essence in a moment of profound self-acceptance.
